If you are considering the Nespresso line of coffee makers, then two of the more popular models are the Vertuo (or VertuoLine) and the Evoluo.
Both machines have earned a strong reputation for the quality of coffee they offer, their durable build, and relatively easy maintenance.
At first glance, it may seem that both coffee makers are quite similar, and you would be right.
However, there are some notable differences that will help you make the right choice for your needs.

Nespresso Vertuo vs Evoluo

There are considerable similarities between the Vertuo and Evoluo which includes both models having a plastic casing, offering 12 to 13 spent capsules, and making brew sizes from .3 oz up to 17 oz.
The capsule spinning technology is the same for both units.
Plus, you get three brewing sizes for lungo, long coffees, and espresso.
However, there are some notable differences as well.
Nespresso Vertuo Specs
- Reservoir: 40 oz
- Dimensions: 8.3” x 11.9” x 11.9”
- Weight: 10.8 lbs.
- Power: 1350 Watts
Nespresso Evoluo Specs
- Reservoir: 54 oz
- Dimensions: 9” x 12.3” x 12.2”
- Weight: 11 lbs.
- Power: 1600 Watts
In terms of features, the Evoluo offers a larger water tank, more power for the heating unit, and a larger capacity for capsule disposal.
The Evoluo can hold up to 17 capsules as opposed to the 13 for the Vertuo.
Another difference is that the Vertuo offers three cup support positions while the Evoluo offers four.
Although, you can always remove the cup support on either model if you have a huge coffee mug to fill.
Pros of Both Coffee Makers
It should be noted that both the Vertuo and Evoluo are high quality, durable coffee makers that offer mostly similar features.
Both machines have a strong reputation for making good coffee and being relatively easy to maintain.
Between the two coffee makers, the pros of the Vertuo include being slightly smaller, less expensive (when taking into account your electricity bill), and taking up less power compared to the Evoluo.
Cons of Both Coffee Makers
Perhaps the biggest con against the Evoluo is that it is currently discontinued.
This may seem a bit strange given its advantage over the Vertuo, but like any product, there may be a myriad of reasons why the company has at least temporarily stopped production of this coffee maker.
Because it is still widely available, for those who are interested in getting the Evoluo the time is now.
Nespresso Vertuo vs Evoluo Verdict: Which Coffee Maker is Better?
Although the Vertuo is quite good, the Evoluo is arguably better.
Especially in terms of its larger water reservoir and overall power which makes the Evoluo the best choice.
The Vertuo is only more desirable if you do not need the extra water capacity in the reservoir and want to save a little on your electricity bill.
Otherwise, the Evoluo offers a superior experience in terms of capacity, features, and overall performance.
The only real drawback is that the unit is currently discontinued which means that the price may go up as they grow scarce.
So, if you want the superior Evoluo, then get it while you can.
